Your child’s smile is unique. Their orthodontic care should be, too. Dr. Russ Ford treats patients of all ages, including teens and adults. We encourage you to bring your little one in at around 8 years old to determine if they’ll benefit from orthodontic treatment.
Your options include:
- Traditional Braces – This treatment is the cornerstone of orthodontics. Metal wires and brackets are used to adjust teeth over the course of treatment. The process itself can take two or more years to complete. It’s ideal for complex cases or if you worry you or your child will not be committed to wearing aligners.
- Clear Ceramic Braces – This is a more discreet version of metal braces. Ceramic brackets are used to move teeth into their proper position. Your child may have more confidence with this option since the braces are less visible.
- Invisalign – Your child can straighten their teeth with Invisalign, one of the most popular clear aligner brands. This process uses a series of aligners to gradually correct teeth alignment over time. They can take the aligners off for eating food or practicing oral hygiene.
- Preventive Orthodontics – Get ahead of alignment issues before they lead to problems down the road. During this proactive treatment, Dr. Ford uses palatal expanders to help promote proper jaw growth.
- Space Maintainers – If your child loses a tooth too soon, space maintainers will hold the spot until the adult tooth comes in. This prevents nearby teeth from falling out of alignment and can help you avoid costly treatment in the future.
- Dentofacial Orthopedics – This preventive approach will encourage the proper development of your child’s facial bones. It utilizes various appliances to help guide the direction and rate of growth in their jaw.
Dr. Ford will begin treatment with a complete exam of your child’s mouth. He will use digital X-rays and 3-D imaging to determine the extent of your child’s orthodontic issues and the ideal path for treatment. If you are worried about costs, we are in-network with many insurance companies. However, you can also take advantage of our in-house financing.
